How Acronivo collects, uses and protects information when you visit acronivo.com.

Who we are

Acronivo (acronivo.com) is a reference website that explains what acronyms and abbreviations stand for. In this policy, “we,” “us” and “our” mean Acronivo. You can reach us at hello@acronivo.com.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the site:

  • Information you give us — your email address if you subscribe to our daily acronym, and your name, email and message if you use our contact form.
  • Usage information — pages visited, time on page, referring site, browser type, device type and approximate location (city or region), collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Log data — IP address, date and time of your visit and error reports, kept by our hosting provider for security.

How we use information

  • To run, maintain and improve the site and its content.
  • To send the daily acronym email you asked for.
  • To answer messages you send us.
  • To understand which guides are useful and which need work.
  • To show advertising that helps keep the site free.
  • To protect the site against spam, fraud and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

Google AdSense and third-party advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited and time spent, and reports it to us in aggregate. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use essential, analytics and advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to control them.

Data retention

We keep subscriber emails until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Analytics data is kept in line with Google Analytics retention settings (14 months).

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict how we process it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases are your consent (newsletter, advertising cookies) and our legitimate interest in running and improving the site. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Your rights (California and other US states)

If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you can ask what personal information we collect, ask us to delete it, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To make a request, email hello@acronivo.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Children’s privacy

Acronivo is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
